The Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is an objective measure of an individual’s physical/functional work capacity. The FCE can be used to compare a claimant’s demonstrated safe tolerances to their pre-injury or recommended occupational demands, household activities or other physical demands.  This information can be used to determine readiness/ability to resume those duties and/or any modifications required.  Further recommendations can be derived from the FCE such as those pertaining to job accommodations, present or future household services or other essential services.
