Earning Capacity Assessment

An Earning Capacity Assessment is used in conjunction with a vocational assessment in order to determine an individual’s residual earning capacity in comparison to their pre injury earning capacity. The Vocational Assessment is used to identify appropriate vocational alternatives for the claimant considering their pre and post injury human capital. This includes factors such as skills, aptitudes, education, work history, labour market conditions, functional restrictions and ability to be retrained. This information when combined with labour market research, forms a profile of a person’s residual vocational capacity, post injury. In the case of a ‘Wrongful Death’ a vocational conclusion can be obtained based upon the person’s pre-incident occupational profile including an analysis of their worklife expectancy to determine their future loss of earnings.
